Fire Detection Systems Service Plan
Back to Services
Receptor will carry out bi-annual maintenance visits to site to inspect the fire detection system in accordance with the recommendations of the current British Standard BS5839 Pt1 (2002).
A typical service Inspection schedule: -
- Inspect the entries contained within the logbook. Ensure that appropriate action has been taken and recorded.
- Visually inspect the control panel and other indicating equipment. Inspect all panel interconnections to all main supplies & ensure they are free from damage/interference.
- Test the condition of the batteries and ensure that they are capable of providing standby power in the event of mains failure. Check that the battery charger circuits are performing correctly.
- Test manual call points (break glasses) in rotation so all devices are tested annually.
- Test all fault circuits on the control panel and ensure that the correct fault indications are displayed.
- Test any relay links to manned control centres or any other auxiliary relay control circuits. Test autodial equipment if fitted.
- Test smoke and heat detectors for correct operation and ensure that all detectors are tested annually.
- Test all sounders and any other audiovisual warning devices for correct operation.
- Ensure that appropriate spares are available to the user. The British Standard requires spare manual call point glasses and manual call point test key be available on site.
- Check that there have been no changes to the premises that will effect the operation of the fire detection system and the protection it provides.
Any defects will be recorded in the logbook and service reports will be generated for the client’s records. Receptor will also endeavour to respond to any additional engineering ‘call out’ requests within the agreed timescale.
